Dover Secures MSTS Championship After Three Top 10s During Jackson Motorplex 360 Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (Sept. 3, 2019) – Jack Dover wrapped up the Midwest Sprint Touring Series championship after earning a trio of top-six results last weekend during the DeKalb/Asgrow 360 Nationals presented by Kuhlman Lake Service & Welding, Inc. and Tweeter Contracting at Jackson Motorplex.

Dover leads the MSTS standings by 92 points with only one race remaining thanks to his strong weekend driving for Rick and Chris Bowers.

“I was pretty happy with it,” Dover said. “I was going there with high expectations, but in all honesty to come away with those results was great.”

The weekend began on Friday with Dover qualifying 15th quickest out of the 47 competitors. He then advanced from fourth to second in a heat race before maneuvering from ninth to sixth in the A Main.

“We weren’t really, really good in the feature, but we were decent,” he said. “We took the notes from that and went onto the next night and tried some stuff. We got better. It seemed like all weekend long we never really had the car tight enough.”

Dover improved every time he was on the track on Saturday, qualifying 11th quickest, winning a heat race from fourth and powering from ninth to fourth in the main event.

“We thought it’d be a little better to start with a tighter car and get tighter as the night went on,” he said. “We did the same thing on Sunday. I think if we had another shot at it we’d tighten it up more and be close to be where we needed to be.”

Dover ranked sixth in event points following the two preliminary nights. A heat race win on Sunday earned a spot into the dash. Dover placed sixth in the race to line up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

The car got stronger as the race went on and Dover muscled to his second straight fourth-place outing.

“One of the things we tried was to make it better at the end of the race and I definitely felt it,” he said. “We learned some stuff and I think it will help the program as well as when I go back to the No. 53.”

Dover will return to his sprint car this week for a trio of races – Friday at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series; Saturday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and Sunday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints.

He enters the weekend leading the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints championship standings by 25 points with only four races remaining this season.
