Macedo and Ellingson Master Jackson Motorplex During FENDT Showdown

Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (June 4, 2025) – Carson Macedo and Chris Ellingson were victorious on Wednesday night at Jackson Motorplex, which hosted the FENDT Showdown.

Macedo powered into the lead on Lap 12 en route to his fifth career World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series triumph at the track, which ranks as the most in series history. For Macedo, it marked the fourth straight year with a win at Jackson Motorplex and a trip to Victory Lane for the third time in the last four World of Outlaws races at the dirt oval.

“Jackson has been really good to us for many years so hopefully we keep racing here for many years to come,” he said.

Kerry Madsen paced the field for the first 11 laps before Macedo pounced in traffic. As Madsen briefly slipped up the track in turn two, Macedo pulled even racing down the backstretch and he took the favored low lane entering turn three. That proved to be the race-winning move as Macedo efficiently picked through traffic during the remainder of the race, which was non-stop following the lone caution on Lap 3.

“Once you got to traffic you got so tight it was so easy to get rolled up,” he said. “Every time I’d get up off the bottom I’d spin in the marbles and crumbles. It didn’t take much to throw the wheel out of your hand. It seemed I could rotate these corners better than anyone and I think track position was huge, too.”

Following the pass for the lead, Madsen stayed within striking distance throughout the second half of the 30-lap race, pulling within several car lengths multiple times before setting for a runner-up result by 0.695 seconds.

“It was a great result overall for our race team,” he said. “For us to have a great run here, we’re just a fledgling team trying to build ourselves up.”

World of Outlaws points leader David Gravel rounded out the podium as he ran third the entire race.

“Definitely tiring,” he said. “That was a very physical track. I felt we were just as good as those guys, just needed the track position. The guys gave me a good car. I felt pretty good. This isn’t our cup of tea, but I felt our car was just as good as anybody’s tonight.”

Michael ‘Buddy’ Kofoid ran fourth and Chris Windom finished fifth.

Gravel set a new track record during qualifying as he and Bill Balog were quickest in their groups during time trials. The heat races were won by Gravel, Windom, Balog and Macedo. Madsen was the dash winner with Tim Kaeding claiming the Last Chance Showdown.

Also of note, the 42 entries marked the most for a World of Outlaws race at Jackson Motorplex since June 2020.

Ellingson maneuvered into the lead on Lap 13 and he held off a hard charging Zach Olivier to win the first appearance by the Sioux Marble Late Model Street Stocks presented by Dakota Custom Builders, LLC at the track since 2019.

“It’s been a long time,” Ellingson said in reference to his last victory. “Thirty years is a very long time. This is awesome. I don’t even remember the last lap. Just gas it and hang on, and that’s all I could do.”

Cory Yeigh led the first 10 laps before he ran into the back of a dramatically slowing car on the frontstretch during the midpoint of the feature. That handed the lead to Aaron Foote, who paced the field for a pair of laps before Ellingson drove into the top spot.

A late-race caution set up a three-lap shootout, but Ellingson pulled away from Olivier, who rallied from 13th to second, to win by 2.127 seconds.

Dustin Gulbrandson placed third with Ryan DeBoer ending fourth and Ron Howe fifth.

The next event at Jackson Motorplex is July 11 for the Hefty Seed Merle Johnson Memorial presented by DKW Transport. The Cressman Sanitation Midwest Sprint Touring Series 410 Sprint Cars and the Heser Auto & Detailing RaceSaver Sprint Cars will both be in action.

The World of Outlaws returns to Jackson Motorplex on Aug. 16 for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars presented by FENDT.

Tickets for all remaining events at Jackson Motorplex can be purchased online at https://mpv.tickets.com/schedule/?agency=JKMV_PL_MPV&orgid=55369#/?view=list&includePackages=true.
